Friends, sharing & safety
Adding friends
- Open Menu → Friends.
- Type their email address or phone number — it has to match the one on their Trailmonger account exactly.
- Tap Add. They appear under Requested until they accept.
If nobody is found, tap Invite to Trailmonger, or use Menu → Invite friends to share your personal link. Anyone who joins from your link is connected to you automatically.
In the phone app, Find friends from contacts checks which of your contacts already use Trailmonger. Checking does not store your contacts.
Requests sent to you appear at the top of the Friends screen with Accept and Decline. To disconnect from someone, tap Remove beside their name.
Sending your exact location in an emergency
Open Menu → My Location & SOS, or tap the Compass tile at the top of the map. The sheet shows your coordinates, elevation, GPS accuracy and the direction you are facing.
- Share my location… sends your position through any app on your phone. Copy coordinates puts them on the clipboard.
- In the phone app, add Emergency contacts so you can text or call them from this screen. With two or more, Text everyone my location sends to all of them.
- In the phone app, Call 911 and Text 911 with my location are at the bottom.
Note: Your coordinates come from GPS and show with no signal, but sending them — a text, a call — needs whatever coverage your phone has. Text-to-911 is not available in every area; if a text does not go through, call.
Setting up a safety zone alert
- In the phone app, open Menu → Location Aware.
- Choose a Safety radius — 25, 50, 100, 250 or 500 yards — and a Zone duration.
- Tap Create alert zone here. The zone is centred on your current GPS position.
Your zones are listed under Your alert zones, where each can be paused, renewed or deleted. Shared Users lists the people whose positions you can currently see: blue is live, amber is last known, grey is too old to show on the map.
Note: Alerts depend on both phones having reported a position. With no signal they arrive after the phones reconnect, so treat a zone as a help, never as a guarantee that nobody is nearby.
