Account & settings
Changing your name, photo and units
Open Menu → Profile & Preferences.
- Tap your photo to change it. Edit your first name, last name and Display name — the display name is how you appear to friends — then tap Save profile.
- Measurement units switches between Imperial (feet, miles) and Metric (metres, kilometres). It applies straight away.
- Directions app chooses which maps app opens for driving directions, or Ask to choose each time.
- Contribute to the community heatmap controls whether your recorded activity is counted, anonymously, in the Community Heatmap layer.
Switching between dark and light mode
Open the menu and find Appearance. Switch Dark mode on or off. It changes menus, sheets and drawers; the map itself follows the map type you chose in Layers.
Note: Trailmonger starts in dark mode and does not follow your phone’s system setting. The choice is remembered on each device separately.
Choosing which notifications you get
Open Menu → Notifications. Each kind — Friend requests, Friends’ activity, Live location, Safety zone alerts, and Product news & tips — has its own switches for push and email.
If push is off for the whole app, the card at the top offers to turn it on, or to open your phone’s settings if you declined it before.
Note: Push notifications come from the phone app. Email settings apply everywhere.
Locking the app with Face ID or fingerprint
In the phone app, open the menu and tap Enable biometrics at the bottom of the list. From then on, opening Trailmonger asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint, with your device passcode as the fallback.
If it says biometrics are not set up, enrol Face ID or a fingerprint in your phone’s settings first. The lock is set per device. To turn it off, tap Disable biometrics in the same place.
Saving tracks to Apple Health or Health Connect
In the phone app, open the menu and find Health, then switch on Sync to Apple Health (iPhone) or Sync to Health Connect (Android). The same switch is in Profile & Preferences under Tracking & sync.
With it on, each track you save is also written as a workout, and the recording screen fills in heart rate, steps and calories from your health data.
Reporting a problem or asking for a feature
- If it is about a spot on the map, move the map there first — and tap the trail, if it is about a trail.
- Open Menu → Send Feedback.
- Choose the kind: Fix map data, Report a bug, Request a feature, or Something else.
- Describe it and tap Send feedback.
The report arrives with your map view — location, zoom, visible layers and the selected trail — and your app version attached, which usually saves a round of questions.
To see what is planned and vote on it, open Menu → Feature Roadmap. Requests are grouped as Under review, In progress and Shipped.
Note: Sending feedback needs a connection.
